Zechariah (Zech) Banks is a member of Gutwein Law’s Commercial Litigation practice area. Zech is committed to building strong, trusted relationships with his clients, taking the time to understand their goals and challenges so he can pursue practical strategies and deliver the best possible results.

Prior to joining Gutwein Law, Zech spent three years at a global law firm, where he worked on complex legal matters. While in law school, he served as a legal extern at USA Track & Field in Indianapolis and previously worked as a Conflicts System Analyst at a large law firm, experiences that gave him a strong foundation in risk management and large-scale legal operations.

Zech brings the same discipline and drive to his legal practice that defined his collegiate athletic career. A four-year varsity swimmer at Wabash College, he was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American and a two-time Academic All-American, earning the Pete Vaughan Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award in 2016.

Zech is actively involved in the legal profession and the broader community. He serves on the Sports and Entertainment Law Section Committee for the Indianapolis Bar Association and is also a member of the Indiana Coalition for Court Access. In addition, Zech is a Guardian ad litem with Kid’s Voices of Indiana. He serves on the Fort Harrison Reuse Authority and the Fort Benjamin Harrison YMCA Board of Directors. Zech also participated on the 2024 Olympic Trials Marketing and Sales Committee.

Zech’s leadership and community impact have been widely recognized. He is a Fellow of the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation Fellowship (Class VII), an Indiana Lawyer Diversity in Law Honoree (2024), and was selected to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “20 in their Twenties” list of emerging leaders in 2023. He is also a member of the 2022 Class of the Indiana Emerging Leaders Project.
